The Martini’s roots trace back to the mid–19th century evolution of gin-and-vermouth drinks (and the earlier “Martinez” family of cocktails). By the early 20th century, it had crystallized into the pared-down gin-and-dry-vermouth formula we recognize today. Its fame grew through the cocktail rooms of the 1920s–50s, becoming synonymous with sophistication and ritual: chilled glass, precise stir or shake, and a single garnish. The Martini endured Prohibition, wartime austerity, and postwar glamour, evolving into dozens of variations while retaining its core identity.

A timeless expression of simplicity and balance, this Martini pairs the bold, juniper-forward character of Junipero Gin with the clean, herbal dryness of Silvio Carta Mazzini Dry Vermouth, finished with a whisper of Angostura orange bitters. Junipero brings bright pine, citrus peel, and a slightly resinous backbone; Mazzini’s dry vermouth contributes floral botanicals, savory herbs, and a crisp, winey backbone that tempers the gin; the orange bitters add a concentrated citrus lift and gentle bittersweet complexity, sharpening the aromatics without overpowering the spirit.
